Cajon Pass – A 10 acre brush fire tied up traffic and kept firefighters busy in the Devore area on Wednesday. First reports came in a little after 3:00pm of a brush fire along the right shoulder of the 15 freeway near Kenwood. That called was followed shortly by reports of a brush fire near the 138.

Fire crews and CHP officers responded to the scene and closed the Kenwood offramp from the 15 north. Cajon Blvd at Devore Road and Kenwood Road were also closed as the fire spread to the hillside there, threatening homes, burning one outbuilding and damaging a barn, according to fire officials. Nearby homes were evacuated, and staff and students at Kimbark Elementary School were evacuated as a precaution. Rescuers also evacuated horses from the Devore area. All evacuation orders have been lifted. No structures were threatened.

The fire was held at 10 acres. A sigalert was issued for the north 15 at Kenwood because that offramp was blocked and traffic was heavily congested in that area.
