(Victorville)–Victorville Chamber’s City Council Candidates’ forum at VMI drew a large crowd, including all 14 city council candidates. Margaret Peterson, Ph.D., Chairperson of our Legislative Action Committee, officiated the forum with 4 questions posed to all candidates.
The 14 candidates cover a diverse section of the community. Some relatively new to the area, some owning local businesses, and some having had experience in the political workings. There were differing ideas of how to move forward, with suggestions of focusing on fiscal responsibility, quality of life, safety, and jobs. The one unifying feeling was every candidate wants to make Victorville better by not looking backward and focusing on the future.
It was a great opportunity to see how these candidates could affect the direction of Victorville if elected. Next month’s VMI will be on October 3 with the program focusing on upcoming health care reform.
