(Hesperia)- – Residents of Hesperia have been waiting with eager anticipation for the opening of the City’s first Walmart store. Today is finally that day, after a construction delay that pushed the opening back by a couple of weeks.
The new Supercenter is 195,350 square feet, with modern features and wide, bright aisles, groceries, a salon, and a Subway restaurant. Walmart Supercenters offer a one-stop shopping experience for electronics, apparel, toys and home furnishing with the added convenience of a grocery store with fresh produce, bakery, deli and meat and dairy products.
The Hesperia Walmart broke ground last summer, the same day as the new Victorville Walmart, however, Hesperia had more infrastructure to construct including sewer, curbs and utilities, adding a few weeks to the project schedule.
“We have had such a great experience working with Walmart on this project,” said City Manager Mike Podegracz. “Although there had been a slight delay, we have been assured that the finished product will be well worth the wait.”
Community and business leaders will join Walmart associates at 7:30 a.m for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, invocation, and a performance of the national anthem. Customers are encouraged to come to the store on grand-opening day to take advantage of a wide variety of events and promotions.
The new Hesperia Walmart Supercenter is located on the corner of Main Street and Escondido, just east of the I-15 freeway.
