Positive: Victorville Celebrates 50 Years As A City

(Victorville)– A parade of Victorville personalities came together Friday night to celebrate the golden anniversary since Victorville incorporated as a city. Former and current city employees, council members and other communitty leaders all reminisced about the past and spoke about the future of the city know as the “Key City to the High Desert.”

According to city records, Victorville became the first incorporated city in the Victor Valley on September 21 of 1962.

Current council members Rudy Cabriales, Jim Kennedy and Mike Rothchild joined Mayor Ryan McEachron in cutting two giant cakes donned with the logo of Victorville.

Present at the ceremony that took place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Victorville was former City Manager Jim Cox, who is himself running for a council position on the upcoming November election.

Among other notables, former Mayor Terry Caldwell spoke about the beginings of the city and the importance of self-governance to benefit the citizens of this city.
