(Victor Valley)– Since 1975, Scott Nassif and his wife Susan have been serving the High Desert when it comes to any auto parts needs one may have. The blue and yellow of NAPA Auto Parts is well known to residents, as are the quality parts and service.
“We bought a store in Apple Valley in 1975, it wasn’t a NAPA Auto Parts store, it was an independent store. It was actually Apple Valley Auto Parts, and we bought that. There were a lot of independent stores back then. At one time, there were up to 16 independent auto parts stores throughout the Victor Valley. Then again, that was some 35 years ago,” said Scott Nassif, Owner of the four High Desert NAPA Auto Part locations and also Mayor of the Town of Apple Valley. The original store became affiliated with NAPA in 1988, and has since grown to include Victorville, Hesperia and Phelan, which opened in 2007 on Sheep Creek Road.
NAPA provides the desert with just about anything you would need for your vehicle. From the basics of brake pads and rotors, to valve jobs and engine rebuilding at their machine shop in Apple Valley, NAPA has what you need, or can get it quite quickly. NAPA is made up of three different markets: retail, wholesale and fleet. Retail being the parts sold right over the counter, wholesale referring to local automotive repair shops that order parts to be delivered, and fleet meaning the larger scale companies that require parts, such as school districts and trucking outfits.
“We consider ourselves a full line auto parts store. We have 400,000 SKU’s or part numbers on hand or ready for overnight delivery. ” Parts have varying levels depending on the performance, usage and price. The competitive store brand line has a lower price than brand names, but still carries the quality that NAPA is known for.
“We are one of the actual locally owned independent auto stores left. All the other independent stores left, they either closed up or left. We like to say were nationally known and locally owned.” Stated Nassif, as he touched on the importance of this community. All employees and management at the four locations are local. Nassif’s stores support local charities, chambers of commerce, and schools. By supporting extra curricular activities, banner programs, as well as being part of the ROP programs at some of the local schools, Nassif has always placed the utmost importance on education and following through to high school graduation.
The High Desert NAPA Auto Parts stores can be seen as a family run business. Many employees have worked at the locations for over twenty years, something that is unheard of in this day and age of economic doom and gloom.
