Firefighters Donate $10,000 To Breast Cancer Research

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– firefighters representing the San Bernardino County Firefighters Association proudly presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to the Loma Linda University Cancer Research Center.

Throughout the month of October, personnel from County Fire showed their support by wearing t-shirts they hope would increase awareness for breast cancer.

The County Fire t-shirt worn under all badge shirts had the traditional pink ribbon silk screened onto both the front and back and was worn with pride by all members from floor personnel to chief officers. Each individual purchased the shirts with proceeds going to breast cancer research.

“This money will be used for personal research so that we may learn how to better treat the individual patient,” said Judy Chatigny, Executive Director of the Loma Linda University Cancer Center. With hopes of raising even more money, the San Bernardino County Firefighters Association also created an off-duty version of the shirt, which was made available to non-department personnel.
