First update
(Victor Valley) -– It’s all been leading up to this night – the millions, or in some cases billions of dollars spent in advertising, the speeches, the debates, the “meet the candidates” luncheons, all of it. Now it is up to the voters and we are now learning what the voters have to say.

As of 8:00 pm with the polls closed in California, President Obama pulled ahead of Governor Mitt Romney and he was the projected winner of the Presidential race. California’s 55 electoral went to the President. For most of the evening, it was a VERY close race.

Locally some of the more hotly contested races were for the 8th Conressional District where early results showed Paul Cook with a lead over Gregg Imus. The race for the seat of San Bernardino County First District Supervisor had Robert Lovingood with a slim lead over Rick Roelle.

Victorville candidate and sitting councilmember Mike Rothschild said it would be a long night and he would wait for election results.”In the early returns I’m in fourth place right now but we will probably be here until about midnight tonight,” Rothschild said.

“There’s about seven (candidates) within striking distance (of being elected) that’s the way it is when there’s 14 people running.

I’m very confident and I’m very pleased with the way things have gone for us in the city,” Rothchild added.

In the race for the Victorville City Council, early results showed Jim Cox, Gloria Garcia, and Ryan McEachron with early leads.
