(Hesperia)– – The Hesperia Animal Shelter has received a generous donation of Kuranda pet beds, providing each dog in the shelter with its own bed. Donated by Stella’s Hope, a non-profit animal rescue group based in Orange County, the beds are ideal for the cold winter days ahead, providing a barrier between animals and the cold concrete floors.
“We are so thankful to have received this donation,” said Scott Priester, Director of Development Services. “Small comforts like beds make a world of difference in the life of a shelter dog.”
Kuranda beds are orthopedic, chew proof and easy to clean, making them a great addition to the shelter. In addition to getting pets off of the floor, the beds help to reduce anxiety that many shelter dogs experience and may also help prevent against the transmission of diseases. The shelter currently uses either blankets or pet beds that sit on the floor, both of which become soiled easily.
Volunteers from both Stella’s Hope as well as volunteers from the City of Hesperia will spend several hours on Sunday, December 23, assembling the beds. To adopt a shelter animal, please visit the City website at www.cityofhesperia.us to view animals currently available for adoption.
