(Apple Valley)–Start your new year out right and save a life. The Town of Apple Valley will host its first LifeStream blood drive of 2013 on January 15.
Healthy individuals at least 15 years of age may donate blood. Those 15 and 16 years of age must provide LifeStream with written parental consent. Parent consent forms are available at any donor center or community blood drive. All prospective donors should be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis. Donors receive a free mini-physical as part of the donation process. Donating blood takes about an hour, yet gives someone a lifetime.
Walk-ins are welcome, but it may be best to make an appointment by calling 1-800-TRY-GIVING or visiting their website at http://www.lstream.org/.
If saving a life isn’t enough of an incentive, LifeStream is giving away some enticing goodies for each donation! Donors also earn loyalty points from LifeStream that you can redeem for other complimentary items.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Conference Center at 14975 Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley adjacent to Town Hall. Contact LifeStream at 1-800-TRY-GIVING or Town of Apple Valley Public Relations Specialist Charlene Engeron at (760) 240-7000 x7072 for more information.
