(Victor Valley)–For the past six years, SANBAG and Caltrans have been working collaboratively on the $723 million Interstate 215 (I-215) Widening Project near Downtown San Bernardino – currently the largest freeway construction project in the Inland Empire.
The 7.5-mile project, which consists of four phases, spans from Orange Show Road to University Parkway. To date, three phases have been completed with the last phase entering the final year of construction and approximately 85 percent complete. Project improvements include rebuilding 15
bridges and 34 ramps, widening the freeway from six to 10 lanes with one carpool lane in each direction, building sound walls through residential areas, and constructing new freeway connectors between State Route 210 and I-215.
