(Victor Valley)–On Feb. 19 2013, CEMEX USA commissioned four wind turbines, with a total generating capacity of 6.2 megawatts (MW), in collaboration with Foundation Windpower, a California-based distributed wind development company.

At a ribbon-cutting event that hosted approx. 80 guests at the CEMEX River Plant, the speakers, which included Karl Watson, Jr., President of CEMEX USA, Luis Oropeza, EVP of Cement Operations of CEMEX USA, and Matt Wilson, CEO of Foundation Windpower, spoke of the project as a job-creating opportunity that demonstrated CEMEX USA’s commitment to making its operations more sustainable and energy-efficient.

The new turbines will prevent over 11,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year and bring CEMEX’s statewide generating capacity to 7.2 MW.
