(Victor Valley)– The county’s 2013-14 Recommended Budget is now online and available for viewing at www.sbcounty.gov.
This year’s $4.01 billion recommended budget is guided by the county’s efforts to partner with the community to achieve the Countywide Vision, which calls for the creation of a “complete county” that capitalizes on its many assets to collaboratively establish a sustainable system of economic opportunity, education, well-being and amenities. Information on the Countywide Vision can be found at www.sbcounty.gov/vision.
County departments built their proposed budgets to achieve goals and objectives adopted by the Board of Supervisors, http://www.sbcounty.gov/uploads/CAO/Uploads/Content/Goals-Objectives-2013-14.pdf.
The recommended budget is balanced and reflects the county’s ongoing struggle to cope with the economic downturn. It also seeks to minimize future shortfalls by maintaining roads, buildings, and essential systems.
The county has true discretion over only $499 million of the $4.01 billion total. The rest is mandated and controlled by state and federal law.
The Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the 2013-14 Recommended Budget on Wednesday, June 12, with a subsequent hearing on June 13 if necessary.
