(Hesperia)— With today being the Fourth of July, it is a time to celebrate our independence with family and friends with the grill fired up and fireworks in the air. But it’s not too late to grill up something new, different, and incredibly amazing, and it can all be found at your local Target store.
Michelle Gautschi, Executive Team Leader for Food Production at the Super Target in Hesperia, took time out of a very busy weekday to speak to High Desert Daily about the Fourth of July, as well as offer some terrific recipe ideas. “ The Fourth of July is a huge celebration,” said Gautschi, “celebrating our nation, but it’s also a great time to connect with our guests and share a lot of our branded grilling items in the store.”
Of course, grilling is something that everyone thinks of when they hear the words “fourth of July”, and at Target, they have you covered. With meats, salads, bakery needs, and of course, grills, you can get everything you need for that backyard celebration. Target even has some exclusive brands, which means you can only find it at Target, such as chips, meats, and more. “Target has specific brands, like right now we have Simply Balanced, which is more of a well-being, healthy item, we also have our Archer Farms, which is a little bit upscale salads and breads and potato chips, which is exclusive to Target. We also have our Market Pantry, which is a value item but taste great and I would put it up against any of our other items we sell in the store.”
Michelle introduced us to some amazing and unique recipes, built specifically for grilling. But have you ever heard of grilling nachos? Michelle told us all about the easy to make appetizer, “The Grilling Nachos, which seems so easy to put together: you use Reynolds Foil Wrap, and with corn chips, a peach that is sliced and grilled a little bit, with cheese and salsa and some avocado. I think it’s a great appetizer for any Fourth of July party and it’s really quick to put together.”
Thanks to Michelle and our friends at Target, we were able to try making the Grilling Nachos for ourselves, and to see if it is as easy as it seems, and if the ingredients combine to make something memorable. Combing Market Pantry beans, Market Pantry cheese, avocados, Simply Balanced corn chips, grilled peaches and Archer Farms salsa may sound a bit odd, but the combination is something that needs to be tried.
The longest part of the recipe was heating up the grill, as the rest was just as easy to prepare as Michelle has said. By grilling the peaches lightly, and cooking the corn chips, beans, avocados, and cheese in foil on the grill, you get nachos that are crisp, have a smoky flavor to them, and a salsa that is amazing with the combined grilled peaches.
