(Barstow)– After 22 years, Quigley’s Restaurant will be sold and the new owners will re-open it as an International House of Pancakes (IHOP).
Lee & Associates in partnership with Quigley’s Restaurant, has been working closely with IHOP representatives for 6 months to locate on Lenwood Road retail corridor. Lee & Associates played an integral role in attracting IHOP to the Barstow location and worked to aggressively market Barstow as a potential site for the restaurant. Carol Randall, Vice President Lee & Associates, represented the owner of Quigley’s Restaurant.
Owner Michael Lewis said, “It was a difficult decision to sell but the time has come. Although Quigley’s has done well as a ‘one-of-a-kind’ restaurant, tourists are generally looking for a name brand that they already know. I think the new owners are making a smart move to re-open it as an IHOP.”
Carol Randall stated, “This project was a two edged sword for me. As a citizen of Barstow, Quigley’s and the Lewis Family have been such an important part of our community that you simply don’t want to see it change, but the timing was good for the family and the community. We are now gaining another National Brand which is what Barstow needs. With the addition of IHOP, the importance of the Barstow market area is continually growing. We welcome them to our community and look forward to engaging them as we did Quigley’s.”
Quigley’s currently has 28 employees. Most of them are expected to be hired by the new owners. The new IHOP will actually create additional jobs and will have 60 to 70 employees when fully staffed.
The sale of the restaurant to Sam & Dans LLC is expected to be finalized by mid September. In order to prepare for the closure, Quigley’s last day of operation will be Sunday, September 1 at 2pm. The new owners plan to remodel the facility and reopen it as an IHOP by November 14, 2013.
