(Victorville)— Today marks the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Taylion High Desert Academy (THDA) in Victorville. The event, open to the public, promises a community event that has fun for the whole family.
The ceremony includes guest speakers from around the community, as well as the official ribbon cutting for the Victorville site. Not only that, but the event has a lot in store for the kids: from snacks, crafts and even a bounce house, as Executive Director Danielle Moore touched on.
“At our grand opening event, participants can look forward to a giant obstacle course bounce house, popcorn, cotton candy, shaved ice, a craft table, raffle prizes and more. Participants will be able to obtain information about the school, as well as meet the teachers and staff. Also, families can reserve a spot to enroll their children into our charter school, and have a fun time at our family friendly grand opening/ open house event. The entire community is invited and we look forward to seeing everyone there.”
THDA is a free, public charter school for grades K-12, with offices in Victorville and Adelanto. With programs including independent study, home school, and a virtual academy, THDA offers a more individualized take on public education. But what makes THDA stand out from the charter schools already present in the High Desert?
“We offer a nontraditional educational model,” said Moore, “but unlike other similar schools, we allow for a smaller class sizes and student loads, making it possible for teachers to build rapport with students and families to help guide them through the process of their education. We also offer plenty of socialization activities as well as enrichment classes to help enhance the students’ educational experience. In addition to that, we are the only school to be able to offer free mental health services for not only students but their families as well. Our entire school is built around the idea that the our school, along with families and the community are a team, and work together to help families accomplish their goals.”
The event will take place at 12:00 pm at the Victorville site, located at 17738 Nevada Avenue, just off of Air Expressway. For more information on the school, feel free to visit their website at http://www.taylionhighdesert.com/ or call the school directly at (760) 246-0088.
