(Victorville)– The San Bernardino County Sheriff and the San Bernardino County Fire Departments are hosting Tip-a-Cop and Tip-a-Firefighter events at Chili’s in Victorville on 11910 Amargosa Road with 100% of all tips going to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and treats children from all around the world who have been afflicted with cancer or other catastrophic disease. Through research and treatment, St. Jude’s strives to find cures and preventions for their patients. Although St. Jude’s has inpatient beds, most patients are treated as outpatients and not one penny is collected from either the patient or their families. Most of the operating costs are covered by public contributions. St. Jude’s has many great accomplishments including an 80% survival rate for childhood cancers compared to less than 20% when the hospital first opened in 1962 and was the first to develop a cure for sickle cell disease through bone marrow transplant.
