Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders Invite All to Celebrate African American History Month

(Victor Valley)– With the Civil Rights Movement celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, the 2014 National Black History Theme is “Civil Rights in America – 50 Years 1964-2014,” the Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders (DVL) Project is excited to announce the 2014 Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders celebration of African American History Month with a series of related programs, events and displays to enjoy throughout the month of February in High Desert.

February 1: 6th Annual DVL Special 32-Page Publication inserted in the Daily Press.

February 3-28: DVL “Know Your History” Display at Victorville City Hall. View the display during standard City Hall business hours. The Community is Encouraged to see this “moving” exhibition.

February 8: 1pm- DVL Tribute Program at the Victor Valley College Performing Arts Center.  Recognizing 14 local citizens and Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Mr. Garner Morris.  The program is FREE to the Community and will also feature the “American Spring: A Cause For Justice” Art Quilt Exhibition by nationally recognized quilt artists in the VVC Performing Arts Center Gallery.

– February 7th – Storytime w/Special Guest

– February 12th – Special Event                            4:30-6:00pm

– February 20th – Special Event                            5:30-7:00pm
