(Victor Valley)—With the winter season now upon us, many are looking for the best places to visit: whether it is a multi day vacation or a one day trip, people want to escape the doldrums of everyday living and enjoy something different, something made of pure imagination. For many, Disneyland is an obvious choice, especially during this time of the year. But California Adventure should not be ignored, as it has fun for everyone in your family. Of course, the big draw to California Adventure is Cars Land, a group of rides devoted to Disney/Pixar’s Cars franchise, which includes Radiator Springs Racers, one of the best new rides either parks has had in some time. The ride brings to life the world of Cars and ends in a way that a ride named after the high octane franchise should. Yet, when visiting California Adventure, Soarin’ Over California should also be a must visit, as it takes riders on a virtual tour of California, complete with familiar scents, such as the all too familiar aroma of orange groves. Another favorite is The Twilight Zone’s Tower of Terror, which tops speeds of 30.7 miles an hour as riders are “dropped” from atop the massive Hollywood Tower.

Disneyland, a longtime favorite for vacationing, continues to impress with their high quality rides and captivating atmospheres. For the holiday season, the park is transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with certain rides getting a holiday makeover. These rides include the Jungle Cruise, re-named the Jingle Cruise for the holidays, and the Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion becomes a Tim Burton fans dream come true, as the ride is transformed into the world of A Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a Small World is adorned with thousands of lights at night, making for a spectacle to behold. Yet, favorites like the Star Wars-based Star Tours, Indiana Jones, and Pirates of the Caribbean always impress, each providing a one of a kind experience that always brings a smile to my face.

So this winter, I cannot recommend enough that you make the drive down to Anaheim and enjoy a day or two using a park hopper ticket to experience both parks. The magic is there, and everyone should visit it at least once, if not more, during the season.
