Firefighters Use Jaws of Life to Free Trapped Motorist

(Victor Valley)– Firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire (SBCoFD) Station 53 in Baker responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on Hwy 127 just west of Baker.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a Toyota Prius with major damage to the roof and sides of the vehicle. The vehicle had left the road way, flipped over, and came to rest approximately 40 feet into the desert. Firefighters and members of the Baker Ambulance Company made contact with the victim and quickly determined that the patient was trapped inside the vehicle. At this point, firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to free the victim from the vehicle.

Patient care was then provided by Baker Ambulance and SBCoFD firefighters. The patient was then transported to a Las Vegas area hospital by Baker Ambulance.

Safety Message: The San Bernardino County Fire Department reminds the public to always wear seats belts when traveling in motor vehicles. Seat belts save lives!!!
