Lead Launches New Institute To Provide Leadership Training For Parents

(Victor Valley) – A new institute created to provide parents with leadership training to become more active and effective in the decision-making process in their area schools and communities will hold its inaugural conference on Saturday, March 29, at Cal State San Bernardino.

The Binational Parent Leadership Institute is the result of an alliance of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, the Mexican Consulate in San Bernardino and Cal State San Bernardino’s Latino Education and Advocacy Days organization.

The conference will feature workshops addressing advanced parent leadership skills and seminars with renowned speakers from California and Mexico. The conference, which is free and open to the public, will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the CSUSB Santos Manuel Student Union Events Center and Fourplex.

The Binational Parent Leadership Institute conference is the fourth and final event in the fifth annual Latino Education and Advocacy Days.

The first event is an education webinar on Wednesday, March 26. The fifth annual LEAD summit will take place on Thursday, March 27. The spring meeting of the Southern California Consortium of Hispanic Serving Institutions will be on Friday, March 28, with the BPLI conference concluding the schedule.
