By Staff Reports

(Hesperia) — San Bernardino County Tax Collector Larry Walker announced today that the Property Tax Payment Center will open in Hesperia beginning tomorrow, April 1st through, April 10th.  This Payment Center will be open Monday – Friday; 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m., and is located at the High Desert Government Center, 15900 Smoke Tree Street.  Checks will be the only form of payment accepted at this location.

The Tax Collector’s Office has hosted a High Desert Property Tax Payment Center for several years during the last ten days of both the first and second installments. Providing this service reflects the Tax Collector’s commitment to assist taxpayers with easy and convenient ways to pay their taxes; and foot traffic at this location is continuing to increase indicating the need for this type of service.

“With the upcoming property tax deadline just days away, I want to continue my support of extending service to the High Desert area,” said Walker.

As a reminder, property owners still have many ways to pay including online and telephone payments, which can be made at or by calling 909-387-8308.  Electronic payments accepted include checking or savings account free of charge.  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit card payments are also accepted; however, a convenience fee is charged and required by the credit card companies. If using online bill pay through a banking institution, taxpayers should contact their bank regarding procedures for ensuring timely payment of taxes and their bank’s use of USPS cancellation marks.  These transactions result in a mailed check and payments received after April 10, 2014, without a USPS cancellation mark will be considered late and incur a penalty.

Mailed payments should be sent to the Tax Collector’s Office, 172 West Third Street, First Floor, San Bernardino, California, 92415.  Only payments with a USPS postmark cancellation on or before April 10, 2014 will be considered timely.  Payments in person can be made by cash, check, or money order at 172 West Third Street, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
