Victor Valley Community College Named to the Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship Program

(Victorville) – Victor Valley College Foundation today announced that Victor Valley College is one of 25 community colleges recently invited to participate in the Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® scholarship program. Through this program, Grainger offers qualified community college students financial scholarships in industrial skilled trade and public safety programs.

According to Dianna Donofrio, Chairperson of the Victor Valley College Foundation Scholarship Committee, “Victor Valley College students will be better equipped to succeed thanks to this scholarship opportunity being made available here. Grainger clearly understands that education is an important ingredient in prosperity and we are thankful that they have chosen to help our students build a better lives for themselves.”

Donofrio serves on the Board of Directors of the Victor Valley College Foundation and is a successful Victor Valley College alumna. The Victor Valley College Foundation manages the scholarship program for Victor Valley Community College and helps hundreds of students every year find financial support from scholarship sponsors, like Grainger, whose generosity truly changes lives.

Nearly 650 students earned Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® scholarships since the program’s inception in 2006. This year, Grainger invited 25 new schools to participate in the program, and announced that students in public safety programs are now eligible, representing its largest expansion since 2010, when Grainger doubled the number of scholarships offered.

“Grainger recognizes the value of community colleges to the local workforce. The education and support these institutions provide empower students, which is vital in developing the skills and talent that will keep our infrastructure and communities strong,” says Lois Rouder, senior manager with Grainger.

Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, Grainger will offer a total of 250 scholarships of $2,000 each. One half of these scholarships are reserved for U.S. military veteran students.
