(Victor Valley)— A new name for quality and freshness comes to the Inland Empire as Paul Martin’s American Grill opens at the Victoria Gardens Mall Monday, June 23rd. Yet, over the past weekend, the restaurant was busy training staff and raising funds for the Inland Empire United Way.
The new establishment invited community members and leaders to come in on June 20-21 for a benefit that not only raised funds for the local United Way, but also helped the newly trained staff as they put their knowledge to the test on a busy Friday and Saturday. All beverage sales went directly to benefit the United Way’s various programs, which assist children and families in need in the Inland Empire.
High Desert Daily was on hand Saturday to see the new, fresh restaurant. We were able to sit down and speak with Paul Martin’s spokesperson Candice Uyloan about the restaurant, the grand opening, and what it means to partner with the United Way.
“It’s a privilege to be able to partner with the I.E. chapter of the United Way,” said Uyloan. “They trust us to represent them during our restaurant opening and it is a big deal for us to contribute to such a great organization that helps low income and homeless families, and children in particular. Greg Bradbard, their CEO, explained their programs to us in detail and it was very moving for the servers and executive team to learn about what we are supporting. Partnering with I.E.U.W. has made us even more proud and excited to have our eighth location open in Rancho Cucamonga.”
The first Paul Martin’s American Grill opened up in 2007 in Roseville, CA. The founders, Brian Bennett and Paul Fleming, are no strangers to restaurants as Fleming is the man behind P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse. “They both lived in the area which lacked a restaurant where they could go in dressed casually at any time of day to eat great food made with the best ingredients. Given their backgrounds, Brian and Paul certainly know what to look for. To have classic American cuisine cooked for you from scratch, and at accessible prices in a warm, relaxed environment, that was the restaurant experience they wanted. So they decided, “well, why not just create it?” That’s how Paul Martin’s was born.”
The focus is on quality: the meats and poultry are all natural and hormone- and antibiotic- free. Paul Martin’s dishes also feature the best in sustainable seafood and the freshest seasonal produce. I was able to try some of their offerings, and they are nothing short of exquisite. From the delicious bread, to the calamari appetizer, the bar was set high from the start. The calamari was tender and breaded perfectly, a far cry from many of the calamari’s I have tried elsewhere. The chili aioli sauce was the perfect compliment to it.
I tried the Chimichurri Steak with fries, and to say it was perfectly cooked would be an understatement. The Chimichurri sauce had the right amount of spices and a kick that really made the steak an experience. The shoestring fries were excellent as well, with a seasoning lightly coated as well. It went great with a glass of Anchor Steam beer, one of many beers on tap and waiting to be tasted.
For dessert, it was a Strawberry Shortcake, which had the right amount of crunch and extremely fresh strawberries, it was a great way to end the meal. The waiter, David, was amazing, as was every member of the staff I came into contact with.
