(Apple Valley)– You don’t have to work in law enforcement, fire safety or a medical profession to make a difference when disaster strikes. Volunteers play an important role in a community’s successful survival of a major event. The next CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) class that teaches the sills volunteers need to assist in a crisis will be on September 6, 20, and 27. This free, 20-hour class will be held at Apple Valley Fire Station #336, 19235 Yucca Loma
Road. Participants will learn Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, CERT Organization, and Light Search and Rescue. At the completion of the class students will receive a backpack, vest, helmet, and a Certificate from FEMA.
Hundreds who have gone through the class can take care of themselves, their families, neighbors and co-workers, freeing up emergency personnel for critical situations. Registrations and questions may be made by emailing Dawn Harrison at firstname.lastname@example.org.
