(Victor Valley)– Fair season started off strong with the High Desert’s San Bernardino County Fair in May and now it’s time for the OC Fair at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa from July 11 thru August 10. Take the family and enjoy a day with iconic fair foods like turkey legs and funnel cakes or if you’re in the mood to test your taste buds, check out the loads of bacon-wrapped and deep-fried foods. A variety of music genres will be playing throughout the fair and music can be heard all around the park to help pass time as fairgoers wait in line for carnival rides and take their turn trying to win prizes at games. Visit the sheep, cows, and goats among other livestock, watch pig races or take a look at the Giant Horse, the Giant Steer, or the Giant Alligator.
The OC Fair’s Carnival has more than pint-size roller coasters and fun houses. La Grande Wheel rises 130 feet above the fairgrounds to give fairgoers a bird’s eye view of the fair. Thrill rides that dangle you upside down in the air will make you scream until your voice gets hoarse. Looking for a chance to cool off? The fair’s water ride will give you a nice splash. Enjoy carnival games as you try to win the biggest dolls possible. Take your pick from a coin-toss, balloon pop, water guns, or any of the countless other games.
With the variety of bands lined up to play The Hangar and the Pacific Amphitheatre, you are sure to find a concert you’ll want to go to. Still set to take the stage at the OC Fair, are The Go-Go’s, 311, Pat Benatar, and more. If you’re in the mood for Queen or Prince, visit The Hangar for tribute bands.
A fair definitely wouldn’t be a fair without livestock. Check out the schedule and see what’s on display at Centennial Farm. With agriculture and livestock competitions, you’re sure to see the best of the best in farming and livestock.
There are all sorts of entertainment all over the fair. The Peking Acrobats will wow and amaze you with their feats of strength and agility. Visit popular chefs of the OC Fair Chef Series to strengthen your cooking techniques or just to get some tips. The Action Sports Arena will be hosting monster trucks, rodeos, and demolition derbies as well.
If you just want a chance to get out and about, take a trip down the hill to the OC Fair. For more information, visit http://ocfair.com/2014/index.asp .
