(Apple Valley)– There will be something for everyone at the Ninth Annual Paws N’ Claws Pet Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 13 at Civic Center Park.
This event has grown from a quaint activity at a nearby park to the biggest celebration of all things furry, scaly, finned and feathered offered in the High Desert. Listen to live music from “Kenny and the Sockettes” while taking advantage of services and vendors that will make the day a must for any pet lover.
If you don’t have a pet, or are looking to add a furry member to your family, many lovable animals will be available for adoption at the park. The Town of Apple Valley, the City ofVictorville and the County of San Bernardino will be present to license pets, and Apple Valley Animal Services will microchip animals for $20 to give them a better chance of being returned to you if lost. Keep them healthy with low-cost vaccinations on-site. Bring your dog to Michelle’s Pampered Pets booth for a free nail trimming. See live animals from the Hesperia Zoo and reptiles from the Sound of Silent Spirits Rescue. See what a hamster feels like by taking a spin in a giant plastic ball at the Sphere Runner booth.
Other offerings this year include:
· Snake avoidance training
· Kid’s area
· Flyball demonstrations
· Dog races
· Dog fashion show contest
· Giveaways and drawings
· And much more!
Last year’s art contest will return. Participants can enter artwork for a chance at a prize in the following categories: crafted, creative, drawing, painting, photo and sculpture. Entries and a $10 fee must be received at the pet fair between 10 and 11 a.m. Winners will be chosen by a judging panel and announced at 2 p.m.
