(Victor Valley)– Congressman Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) issued the following statement on Veterans Day:
“We pause to recognize the heroes among us on this Veterans Day. I join everyone across the nation in paying tribute to the service members who defend our freedom. I’d like to thank every veteran, and those currently serving, for their incredible sacrifice. ”As we honor our veterans every year on the 11th day of the 11th month, it is important to remember veterans fought every day for the freedoms we enjoy. Having served in the Marine Corps for 26 years, I have witnessed the tremendous bravery and sacrifice of my fellow Marines. ”As a representative, but more importantly as a veteran and an American, I believe every day is Veterans Day.”
A member of the House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Veterans’ Affairs Committees, Cook served as an infantry officer and retired after 26 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time in combat, he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
