(Hesperia)– Last month, Sultana High School competed at the invitation only Project Lead the Way Robotics Tournament in Riverside.

Twenty-four (24) teams were invited including last year’s world champion team and three national championship teams. Sultana HS swept the competition with one team winning the Excellence trophy (the highest award offered by VEX) and its second team winning both the Tournament Champion trophy and the Sportsmanship award. According to Jay Winters, Teacher, both teams have automatically qualified for the State Championship tournament in April. Data provided by Project Lead the Way indicates that Hesperia Unified School District has the highest degree of participation in robotics of any school district in the nation.

Additionally, the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce recently donated $5,000 in seed money for the STEM Program.
