(Victor Valley)– Cal State San Bernardino President Tomás D. Morales will be in Washington, D.C., later this week for the White House College Opportunity Summit, a conference that aims to improve access and success in college for low-income and disadvantaged students.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at the event in January, which concentrated on giving all students the opportunity to attend college.
This year’s summit will focus on universities working together to increase the number of college graduates and sharing what has worked for them, such as new partnerships between K-12 school districts and colleges and universities to increase high school graduates’ college readiness; new commitments on college advising and school counselors; increasing the number of STEM graduates; and reforming developmental education.
