(Victorville)–The Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority’s Finance Department is being recognized for their superior work having received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. This is the highest award given by the GFOA in governmental budgeting. VVWRA Director of Administration Angela Valles said, “Our finance team has once again raised the bar in governmental budgeting. We are extremely proud of their accomplishment and how it positively reflects on the VVWRA.”
In order to receive the budget award, VVWRA had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. In a statement, the GFOA says the award represents a “significant achievement” by VVWRA and its staff.
The award is particularly impressive given the small number of staff in the Finance Department at VVWRA. With just three employees, the Finance team handles the Authority’s entire coverage area, which includes nearly 300,000 people living in Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley and two San Bernardino County special districts. Valles said, “Accounting Supervisor Chieko Keagy, Accountant Xiwei Wang and Accounting Technician Haik Seropian are to be commended for their excellent work.”
The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing the needs of more than 18,000 appointed and elected government officials.
