(Apple Valley) – On January 26, 2015 Apple Valley Ranchos Water Co. will begin a large water main replacement project in the area of Symeron, Mondamon, Pohez and Apple Valley Roads. This project will occur mostly in the public utilities easement, however, it will cross Symeron Road and Apple Valley Road with the new water main. This project will replace 4,300 feet of old 12 inch steel pipe with a new 20 inch ductile iron water main. The project has an expected completion date of April 17, 2015.
The water main replacement project will greatly improve system reliability and functionality. Ranchos Water is also installing new fire hydrants to improve fire protection capabilities. The total investment by Ranchos Water in this system upgrade is approximately $1 million.
Ranchos Water is sending out customer notification letters to people that are in the immediate work area. Work hours will be modified as feasible to lessen the traffic impact to and from Desert Knolls Elementary School. Apple Valley Road will be reduced to one lane. No full road closures will occur.
