(Apple Valley)- On February 2, 2015, Apple Valley Ranchos Water Co. will begin construction on a major water main replacement project on Standing Rock Ave. between Navajo Road and Flathead Road. In order to continue providing excellent service to our customers, Ranchos Water is replacing approximately 2,200 feet of World War II vintage 12-inch thin-walled steel water main with new 20-inch ductile iron pipe.
According to experts involved in this project, the water main replacement project will greatly improve system reliability and functionality. Ranchos Water is also installing new fire hydrants to improve fire protection capabilities. The total cost of this replacement construction is approximately $600,000 and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2015.
Ranchos Water has begun notifying community members that use Standing Rock Ave. in their daily commute to help lessen traffic issues and delays. There will be signs and traffic flaggers to warn drivers and nearby residents of the construction area. Project organizers said traffic will be impacted due to the road being reduced to one lane.
Ranchos Water apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience while this system improvement work is underway.
