(Hesperia)– Attention High Desert Community! One of our own has a chance to face Deals and Zonks on CBS’ “Let’s Make a Deal.” Hosted by Wayne Brady, he searches the audience full of outlandish costumes with each contestant hoping their costume will catch Brady’s eye and give them a chance to win cash and prizes as they hoot and holler to get his attention.
Hesperia resident Shannel Watts told High Desert Daily she got the idea from her church, to do more than just watch Let’s Make a Deal, “My church started going. They’re the ones that came up with the idea of forming groups to go to Let’s Make a Deal, but I couldn’t go on any of the days they went as a group, so my girlfriend and I got together and we decided to go just to see if we were going to win and to have some fun.”
Watts used her creativity and craft skills to create her own original homemade costume, a Rubik’s Cube. “It just came to me. I was thinking I wanted to do something original and I watch the show all the time so I’ve seen what people have done. Nobody’s been a Rubik’s Cube. I put it together with a cardboard box, some construction paper and some black tape, and it worked out.”
A single mother, Watts is dedicated to providing the best life possible for her four children ages 4, 7, 9, and 16. With the support of her parents and friends, she is a full-time student at University of Phoenix and will be finishing up her Bachelors Degree in Psychology shortly, but will get right back into it for her Masters as she explains her plans for her future, “I want to be a social worker that helps women and children with violent backgrounds, that have been victims of domestic violence and child abuse. Unfortunately, I have experienced that in my life in the past, so I have a heart for women who have experienced the same things. I just want to give back. I just want to help.”
Watts truly deserves a chance to win something, anything but Zonks, on Let’s Make a Deal. Let’s tune in and root for her as she represents the High Desert. Does Shannel’s costume have what it takes to land her next to Wayne Brady? Check your local listing and be sure to tune into CBS to watch Let’s Make a Deal on Monday, January 19.
