Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders Project Announces 2015 Honorees

(Victor Valley)– The Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders (DVL) Project is excited to announce the 2015 Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders Honorees for Black History Month.  “Once again it’s our privilege to recognize extraordinary individuals for their professional accomplishments and community service. We are honoring a total of 11 local High Desert citizens,” states DVL Founder, Regina Weatherspoon-Bell.

  • George A. Armstrong III, Colonel, USAF (Ret), Military, Educator & Community Service


  • Bianca Johnson, 1st Year Law Student, Community & Youth Advocate
  • J-Michael F. Yates LTC USA (Ret) Military/Community Service
  • Gloria Roberts, Retired Educator, Community Service
  • Dr. Melda Gaskins Principal, Cobalt Institute of Math & Science (CIMS)
  • Alemayehu (Al) G. Mariam, Ph.D., J.D. Civil Rights Law Advocate/Community Service
  • Joseph  Moon, Environmental and Transit Services Manager, Town of Apple Valley
  • Lynette Ramirez, Founder Ready 4 Reading, Community Service
  • Ebony Phillips Purcell, M.Ed., Principal, Adelanto High School
  • Cornelious (C.J.) Page Jr., Executive Director CHAN,  Community Health Advocate

The 2015 DVL honoree’s will be featured in the 7th Issue of the Black History Month “Dreamers, Visionaries and Leaders” 32-page publication to be included in the February 6, 2015 issue of the Daily Press Newspaper.

The community is encouraged to join us for a FREE afternoon of history, entertainment and honor recognizing Black History Month and the 2015 DVL Honorees at our FREE Tribute program on Saturday, February 7, 2015, 1pm at the Victor Valley College Performing Arts Center.
