(DGIwire) – On February 22, when Hollywood’s glitterati descends on the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 87th Academy Awards, there’ll be plenty of mysteries swirling around the red carpet…and we’re not counting the age-old “What is she wearing?” Folks will be asking: Will Richard Linklater’s heavily favored Boyhood snag Best Picture or will Birdman snatch it away? Was Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice shortchanged by nominations only for adapted screenplay and costumes? And who will be first at the podium to call out this year’s biggest controversy: the lack of diversity among nominations, including none for Selma’s director, lead actor or cinematographer?
There are also questions that many viewers won’t bother asking themselves, such as: “What will I win tonight?” Affixed to their couches, armed with popcorn and surrounded by friends and family, they’ll be too busy watching the stars on TV grab their golden statuettes—and sitting through some sure-to-be-embarrassing musical numbers—to think much about prizes for themselves.
Of course, Academy Award fans who Viggle know what’s in it for them—lots and lots of Viggle points. Viggle is an entertainment marketing and rewards platform whose app rewards its members for watching TV shows and discovering new music. The Viggle platform had a total average monthly reach of 26.04 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, including more than 7.9 million Viggle registered users. Since its launch, Viggle members have redeemed approximately $22 million in rewards for watching their favorite TV programs and listening to music. Members can use Viggle’s store, accessible through the Viggle app or on Viggle.com, to redeem their Viggle Points for TV show, movie, and music downloads, as well as ebooks and audiobooks.
Viggle users can join a Red Carpet Viggle Live before the Awards ceremony begins at 7:00 PM ET, and then check into the big show for Viggle points at 8:30 PM ET. And to make things even more special, Viggle is planning “Red Carpet Streak Week.” During that week, Viggle users can check into TV with Viggle five out of seven days and go on an Oscar-winning movie marathon, check into their favorite entertainment news shows or just watch their regular TV lineup as Viggle celebrates all things entertainment with our Red Carpet Streak.
“There are going to be lots of winners on Oscar night, and only some of them will be on stage in Hollywood,” says Greg Consiglio, president and COO of Viggle. “Viggle users can use the occasion to win lots of Viggle points, which they can redeem in more ways than ever. It’ll be a fun night celebrating the past year’s achievements on the silver screen, and Viggle users’ smartphone screens are the key to even greater rewards.”
