(Apple Valley)– St. Joseph Health, St. Mary is proud to announce that is has been granted full accreditation by The Joint Commission.
An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. In March, the Commission conducted an unannounced three-day survey of St. Mary staff, practices and policies.
“I’m very proud of our staff for always providing the best patient care possible and making St. Mary the hospital of choice in the Victor Valley,” said St. Mary CEO Alan Garrett. “I’m looking forward to a great relationship with The Joint Commission, as we are continually looking for ways to improve our patients’ experience.”
The Joint Commission is also recommending St. Mary for Medicare certification. The final determination regarding Medicare participation will be determined by the regional office of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“Joint Commission accreditation provides hospitals with the processes needed to improve
in a variety of areas from the enhancement of staff education to the improvement of daily business operations,” said Mark G. Pelletier, RN, M.S., chief operating officer, Division of Accreditation and Certification Operations, The Joint Commission. “In addition, our accreditation helps hospitals enhance their risk management and risk reduction strategies. We commend St. Joseph Health, St. Mary for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization.”
St. Joseph Health, St. Mary, which was again voted best hospital of the desert by Daily Press readers this year, is part of the St. Joseph Health system. All ministries within the system now hold a Joint Commission accreditation, providing uniformity.
