(Apple Valley)– Celebrate America’s birthday on the 4th of July at the Town of Apple Valley’s 18th Annual Freedom Festival.
The celebration begins at 2 p.m. at the Lenny Brewster Sports Center. This day-long celebration will feature live music, shopping, a children’s play area and much more. The popular beer garden will complement a variety of food booths featuring funnel cakes, kettle corn, fresh lemonade and barbecue.
A day of live music, games, activities, food and fun culminates at 9 p.m. with the largest fireworks show in the High Desert.
Due to construction of the water recycling plant on the south side of the park, pedestrian access and handicap parking are significantly changed from previous years. The main entrance has been moved to the southeast corner near the playground, with two additional entrances along the east edge. Because of the concentration of pedestrians in that area, everyone must enter the park on foot. All parking, including handicap, will be moved outside of the gates. All handicap parking will be accommodated in a large area immediately outside the main entrance.
Lenny Brewster Sports Center is located at 21024 Otoe Road. Take Dale Evans Parkway 1.5 miles north from Highway 18. The park features 40 acres of grass, a playground and horseshoe pits. Bring your canopies and chairs, but please, no alcohol, pets or barbecues will be allowed in the park and no smoking please. Food vendor spaces are sold out, but a few retail spaces remain. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help ensure the future of special events that help make Apple Valley “A Better Way of Life.”
