Celebrate America’s Birthday at the Apple Valley Freedom Festival

By Staff Reports

(Apple Valley)– Celebrate America’s birthday on the 4th of July at the Town of Apple Valley’s 18th Annual Freedom Festival. The celebration begins at 2 p.m. at the Lenny Brewster Sports Center. Parking and admission are free.

The Educators, a Variety/Oldies group, will kick off the stage entertainment at 2 p.m., with The Tom Nolan Band playing Motown/R&B as the headline performers starting at 6 p.m. A giant kid zone will be full of bounce houses, obstacle courses and other inflatables, with tickets $1 each, or a wristband for $20. The day will also include free games and crafts, activities, food and fun, which culminates at 9 p.m. with the largest fireworks show in the High Desert. Tune in to Kat Country KATJ for a patriotic music simulcast to the fireworks show.

The popular beer garden will complement a variety of food booths featuring funnel cakes, kettle corn, fresh lemonade and barbecue.

Lenny Brewster Sports Center is located at 21024 Otoe Road. Take Dale Evans Parkway 1.5 miles north from Highway 18. Bring your canopies and chairs, but please, no alcohol, pets or barbecues will be allowed in the park, and all Town parks are 100% smoke-free.

Due to construction of the water recycling plant on the south side of the park, and restrictions against parking on some private property in the area, there will be no pedestrian or vehicle access through the east gates this year. The main pedestrian entrance remains the same, with a smaller walk through gate added near the playground. Because of the concentration of pedestrians in the area and a lack of a drive through gate, everyone must enter the park on foot. Handicap parking will no longer be available inside, but will be accommodated in a large area immediately outside the main entrance. We recommend you make your way to the park early and allow plenty of time to park and walk inside.

Due to the drought, the popular Water Spectacular has been canceled this year.
