(Victorville)—The San Bernardino County Fair wrapped up this weekend after a week full of sunshine and great music. 68 years of county fair fun, and 2015 didn’t disappoint.

“We had fun,” said Victorville resident Sarah Cvengros Marler. “I took my 3 youngest kids, they are 3, 2 and 1, and they enjoyed the animals most of all. The value of the fair itself and rides, I got the 3 year old a wristband, was good. He had hours of fun and my only complaint would be that bottled water cost me $3 (laughs).”

The fair was packed, day in and day out as the weather was perfect for a day at the fair. From the halls filled with vendors of all sorts, to the high quality artistry of the beautiful quilts, crafts and cakes. Not to mention the street performers: from magicians, jugglers, and the one man show, you can’t walk down a street and not smile at the fair.

Hesperia resident and Speaking of Cakes creator Jaklyn Abrahamson entered three highly detailed cakes, and each one won. Her peacock wedding cake took first place and judge’s choice, the rubber ducky baby shower cake won first place and best of show, and her circus cake took second place. This was Abrhamson’s first time entering at the fair.

“I started decorating cakes for my children’s birthdays and business just grew from there,” said Abrahmson. “Over the past few years everyone kept telling me I should enter competitions. I honestly am my worst critic and never thought I was good enough. This year I finally gathered the courage and made three cakes to enter. I feel very honored that so many people loved my cakes and voted for them. I am super excited and can’t wait to plan designs for next year’s cakes. I would like to thank all the followers and customers on Facebook who encouraged me along with my family and friends.”

Of course, for many, it was the concert series that wowed them. From Fireflight, to Kellie Pickler, the Rock Revival Tribute and Great White, there was something for all. “I liked the Kellie Pickler concert,” said Victorville resident Arturo Garcia Jr. “The reptiles they had were cool. The hypnosis always does good, makes me laugh at what he makes people do.”
