(Apple Valley)– Apple Valley Ranchos Water Co., High Desert Underground and Kelly’s Underground are proud to announce their donation of over 60 backpacks filled with essential school supplies and 25 cases of paper to the Apple Valley Unified School District just in time for the new school year.
“We see the need for private business like ours and Ranchos to partner with our schools to provide a better community” said Jill Sandwick, Owner and CEO of HDU.
Ranchos, HDU and Kelly’s have a strong belief in charity and helping the community. With the new 2015-2016 school year fast approaching, Ranchos Water reached out to the schools in the area to help students who may not have the basic necessities needed to excel in their new educational journey. The donation of over 60 backpacks, each filled with the basic school supplies all students need, was made possible through the company and employees of Ranchos Water, including one employee, whose child works at a local discount retail store and was allowed to utilize her discount to assist with the purchase of the backpacks. Also, with the assistance of management at the local Staples, Ranchos Water was able to maximize their allotted funds for the purchases of the school supplies needed to stuff the backpacks.
HDU and Kelly’s Underground recognized the need for printer and copier paper in the schools, as each organization agreed to donate cases of paper to assist the schools that serve the youth in the Apple Valley community.
“Ranchos has a long-standing partnership with our local schools and we are excited to be involved in providing backpacks and school supplies for students in this community as they start a new school year,” said Tony Penna, Vice President and General Manager of Ranchos Water.
After Ranchos Water employees stuffed all of the backpacks with the tools to succeed in education, they were presented, along with 25 cases of paper to Apple Valley Unified School District’s Superintendent Tom Hoegerman, as Hoegerman and his team will be distributing the backpacks and paper to the schools with the most need.
“This type of community support is very helpful to the success of our school systems and our children’s education. This is just another example of how Ranchos Water, HDU and Kelly’s Underground give back to our community, said Tom Hoegerman, School Superintendent for the Apple Valley Unified School District.
