(Victorville)– The VVC Music Department will hold an open audition for string musicians on Saturday, August 29, from 9am to 1pm. The audition is for possible placement as a member of the string section of the College Orchestra, which will be under the direction of new VVC adjunct faculty member Brigham Welch. He will be assisted by Dr. Thomas Miller, chair of the VVC Music Department. Wind and brass players interested in being considered for the orchestra should contact Dr. Miller at the email listed below for further information.
The College Orchestra is a college-community group combining talented young players, college and community musicians to perform a wide variety of standard orchestral repertoire with an emphasis on the masterworks. The Orchestra is a class that may be taken for credit, concurrent enrollment, or audit for those who do not need credit.
Those wishing to audition should contact the Music Department at Thomas.firstname.lastname@example.org for an audition time. Please supply your name, phone number, instrument and a time range between 9 and 1 that is best for you. The audition will consist of a 3 octave scale of your choice, a solo piece of your choice, a sight reading excerpt, and a section of the 4th movement of Mozart’s Symphony #41, which will be sent with the audition time by return email.
