Health and Happiness Go Hand in Hand

(DGIwire) –Dr. Anjuli Srivastava said to ABC News in an interview about the correlation between health and happiness that “data show positive mood, optimism and humor are linked to better health and well-being.” There is nothing more important to your happiness than taking proper care of your body. And what comes with being healthy is, of course, being happy. Taking care of your health is an integral part of taking care of your mental well-being.

A review of 160 studies by Ed Diener, psychology professor at the University of Illinois states that, “All of these different kinds of studies point to the same conclusion: that health and then longevity in turn are influenced by our mood states.”

Rather than collapse thinking about the problem, it’s important to think of the solution. It’s common knowledge that worrying about things that are out of your control will not do anyone any good. You won’t be healthy and you certainly won’t be happy.

“Being healthy directly correlates with being happy. Just as happy people are healthy people, stressed-out people are unhealthy people. Too much stress and anxiety can commonly elevate to unhealthiness. A positive mindset is an absolute must for being happy and healthy,” says Harry Edelson, the legendary financial analyst and author of the new soon-to-be-published book Positivity: How to Be Happier, Healthier, Smarter; and More Prosperous. “Your mind is for you to control. Happiness and excellent health begin with the right attitude.”

Edelson suggests in his book that not getting enough sleep at night will cause you to feel fatigued and unhappy the next day. If you don’t feel rested and fueled, happiness is going to be just beyond your reach. A well-balanced diet, a good night’s sleep and a strong dose of exercise are all contributing factors to maintaining a healthier, well-balanced life. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will not only benefit your body physically but it will make you happier and more energized. Take control of your own body as a way of making yourself happier.
