(Victorville) – Healthy High Desert presented its 3rd Annual High Desert Health Summit, on Wednesday, September 23 at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center in Victorville. The theme for this year’s Summit was Our Health and Our Environment. The Summit featured a diverse array of information geared specifically towards residents of the High Desert.
The invitation-only event included presentations on the health needs in the High Desert, how policy can affect health, and local programs that provide active living opportunities, as well as the local food movement, active transportation grants, and Safe Routes to Schools. The county’s new Community Transformation Plan was also discussed. Mayor Larry Cusack of Apple Valley and Mayor Eric Schmidt of Hesperia were featured speakers.
Additionally, Healthy High Desert presented Awards of Excellence to organizations that have demonstrated significant support for a healthy High Desert environment.
The 3rd Annual High Desert Health Summit was sponsored by the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District, Victor Valley Global Medical Center, Molina Healthcare, City of Victorville, Desert Valley Hospital, IEHP, St. Joseph Health, St. Mary, City of Hesperia and Kaiser Permanente.
