Superpave Overlay and Shoulder Work on Interstate 15

(Victor Valley) – Caltrans, District 8 will begin a project on Interstate 15 (I-15) from .8 miles south of Ranchero Road to State Route 58 (SR-58) between Hesperia and Barstow. The $4.9 million project has been awarded to Sully Miller and will provide a pavement overlay in both directions of I-15 and fog seal the shoulders. The work hours will primarily be during the evening, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The work hours will depend on projected traffic volumes and weather conditions.

The material used for the overlay is called “Superpave”, which is known for its durable and long-lasting qualities. During the work, lane closures will be essential to protect workers, to ensure that traffic does not travel over the material while it cools, which will ensure the best possible product.

In addition to the lane closures, temporary ramp closures will be necessary to complete paving, striping, and shoulder work. The following ramp closures are scheduled beginning Sunday through Tuesday night in Hesperia and Victorville:

The project is scheduled for approximately 80 working days. Information will be released as it is obtained regarding the schedule of closures.
