(Apple Valley)– In honor of our local veterans, and just in time for Veteran’s Day, the Apple Valley Town Council will unveil six new banners representing each branch of the military in a ceremony prior to next week’s Town Council meeting.
“For years, Apple Valley has proudly hung individual banners that honored active duty military serving in a war zone,” said Mayor Larry Cusack. “Although the demand for individual banners has dwindled in recent years as our local service men and women have returned home, the Town of Apple Valley’s gratitude to all of those still serving our country has not.”
The public, and especially veterans, are invited to attend the unveiling at 5 p.m. when new banners representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard will be dedicated.
San Bernardino County First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood, an Air Force veteran himself, will open the ceremony that will include a performance of patriotic music and a Color Guard presentation. Refreshments will be served after the brief ceremony.
