(Victorville)– For the fifth year in a row, the finance department at the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. (GFOA) The award was presented to the VVWRA Finance Department for its annual budget document. The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. GFOA spokesman Stephen Gauthier said the award “represents a significant achievement” by the VVWRA Finance Department.
VVWRA Finance Director Angela Valles said, “I am very proud of our finance team and their hard work in achieving this award. Our team is made up of very talented finance professionals, including two certified public accountants. Receiving this award for an unprecedented five years in a row is a tribute to their efforts and our goal of transparent fiscal responsibility.”
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes VVWRA for satisfying nationally recognized guidelines for effective governmental budgeting. The award specifically acknowledges the VVWRA budget as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
The VVWRA Finance team handles the Authority’s entire coverage area, which includes nearly 300,000 residents living and doing business in Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley and two San Bernardino County special districts.
The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of more than 18,000 government officials and other finance practitioners.
