St. Joseph Health, St. Mary Opens Clinical Learning Center

(Apple Valley) – On Thursday, January 21, St. Joseph Health, St. Mary will host the opening of a new Clinical Learning Center. This new center aims to provide high quality staff education to enhance clinical skills and reasoning in a safe environment.

“Thanks to the generosity of Betty Lou Gross and her late husband, Frederick A. Gross, St. Joseph Health, St. Mary established a $1M Endowment to provide nursing scholarships to those wishing to further their education, as well fund the new Clinical Learning Center,” said Gloria Peak, St. Joseph Health, St. Mary director of nursing excellence.

The learning center – the only one of its kind in the Victor Valley – will feature scenario-based hands-on experiential learning, computer and simulation-based training, research support and more. The goal of the center is to create a better patient experience through enhanced clinical skills and reasoning in a safe environment.

After an open house for the learning center on Thursday between noon and 3 p.m. 60 St. Mary registered nurses will be recognized for continuing their education and obtaining a higher degree in their professional development. The degrees obtained include 50 bachelor’s of Science; eight master’s degrees and 2 doctorates.
