Fit Facts by George Mangum
High protein diets can be an effective way to lose weight. A high protein diet is great for rebuilding the muscle which has been broken down after a workout and needs to be built back up. Most people need about 10-30% of their daily diet to be protein. For serious fitness and max muscle, .9 grams for each pound of bodyweight each day. No more than 50 grams per day. The body can only process about 25 grams at a time, so forget trying supplements with more than that in each serving. It just ends up wasted.
Main protein sources are lean meat, poultry, fish, and eggs. Don’t forget pork, tofu, and beans, either. High protein diets work by substituting carbs, not eliminating them. Carbs are necessary as an energy source for our bodies and brain. Don’t sacrifice your health by eliminating carbs altogether.
