(Victorville) – The City of Victorville has planned another entire weekend to make it easy for Victorville residents to get their spring cleaning done by hosting a Clean Sweep Weekend on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13.  This is a great opportunity to clean out garages and closets and possibly win a prize.

On Saturday, March 12, Victorville residents are invited to visit the City of Victorville Recycling Drop-off Center.  The City is offering:

  • Free TV, Appliance, and E-waste Disposal:  Residents or businesses can also drop off other scrap metal items, cardboard boxes, packing paper, and mixed paper.
  • Free Mattress & Boxspring Disposal:  Twin, full, queen or king mattresses and bosxprings will be accepted. For City of Victorville residents only.  No business mattresses/boxsprings.
  • Tire Amnesty Day:  Free disposal of up to five tires.  Car, motorcycle, or light truck tires only from City of Victorville residents.  Proof of City of Victorville residency will be required.  No semi tires, tires from businesses, or tires from dealers.
  • Clothing Recycling Drive & Raffle:  Residents can drop off clothes, shoes, and other textiles such as towels and linens.  For every kitchen-sized plastic bag full of clothes brought in, a free raffle ticket will be given to enter the raffle to win a Google Tablet!  The clothing drive and raffle are being sponsored by USAgain, a clothing recycler.

The Victorville Recycling Drop-off Center is located at 15164 Anacapa Rd., between Amargosa and Borego, in Victorville.  This event will last from 8 a.m. to noon.

On Sunday, March 13, residents are invited to visit the City of Victorville Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, located on Loves Lane, off of Desert Knolls Drive, behind the County Fairgrounds. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents will be able to dispose of excess paint, motor oil, expired medications, sharps (needles), household batteries, fluorescent lights, pesticides, TVs/computers, and other E-waste.  Disposal is free to Victorville residents and limited to 15 gallons or 125 lbs. The City of Victorville is encouraging residents to bring used oil filters and motor oil for a chance to win free movie tickets to Cinemark Movie Theaters.  Also, the first 50 customers to bring in used motor oil and/or used oil filters will receive a free oil filter bucket or a free oil pan.

Both events are free.  Make it a “Clean Sweep Weekend,” and have some fun cleaning up garages and cleaning out closets!
