(Victorville)– On June 15 at 6 p.m., the City of Victorville and Caltrans will host an information session for businesses located in the work zone for the Palmdale Road Slurry Seal Project. The work zone is located on Palmdale Road between El Evado Road and Green Tree Boulevard. The Information Session will be held in Conference Room D at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Dr. in Victorville.
Members of the City’s Public Works Team and Caltrans will be on-hand to answer questions and explain this project, which will necessitate a full road closure of Palmdale Road between El Evado Road and Green Tree Boulevard on June 21 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and lane closures June 22 and 23. In addition, the on- and off-ramps to the I-15 will be closed at Palmdale Road in both directions on June 21. The off-ramps to Palmdale Road will be closed June 22 and 23, while access to the I-15 from Palmdale Road will be restricted these days.
Intermittent lane closures along the affected stretch of Palmdale Road may begin as early as June 13 while road crews make preparations. These early lane closures will be during the daytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Caltrans (lead agency) and the City of Victorville will be applying slurry seal to the damaged portions of Palmdale Road as a temporary repair to prevent the road from deteriorating further before a $3 million reconstruction project scheduled for next summer.
The full road closure on June 21 will enable crews to complete the slurry seal in a shortened, three-day period and reduce the impact to local businesses and motorists while increasing safety for the traveling public. Detours will provide motorists limited access to businesses located in the Palmdale Road work zone, but no cars will be permitted to travel on or cross Palmdale Road in the work zone on June 21.
Businesses located in the work zone and members of the community are invited to the Information Session on June 15 to ask questions and learn more about this road project.
The Information Session is free and open to the public. For additional information, please call Caltrans at (909) 383-4631 or City of Victorville Public Works at (760) 243-6332.
